Neuse River Brewing opened their doors to the public on Friday August 1st, 2015. I swung by on Saturday and even though I'd visited a few times before while they were under construction, it was really great to see the place finally put together and receiving patrons.
Owner Ryan Kolarov told me once that they'd originally planned to setup shop in the town of Creedmoor, but for various reasons ended up in the Five Points area of Raleigh a few doors down from Nickelpoint Brewing. It's a great location and great building with high ceilings and a nice cross-breeze that keeps the vaulted room pleasant even on a hot summer afternoon. One of the most striking surprises is the view of the downtown Raleigh skyline you get through the large windows behind the bar, something I'm looking forward to checking out at night.
And the beer? Fantastic! On my first visit I tried their Neusiok Saison and Caleb's High Noon (double IPA). IPAs aren't my thing, so I don't feel qualified judging the latter. The saison however was delicious and will definitely be my go-to when I visit on a warm day. NRB's website lists 7 beers in their arsenal (though only 3 are available at the time of this writing), and I look forward to trying their other styles when they hit the tap.
