This past Sunday I participated in my first Snoopy's Social Run, now in its fourth year.
The course started at the Snoopy's next to Meredith College, where a group of about fifty participants had gathered. After getting your choice of a free hotdog, fries, or drink, the runners headed down Hillsborough Street to the next Snoopy's at the intersection of Hillsborough and Glenwood Avenue. After getting another free item, the course headed up Glenwood to Five Points, then down Whitaker Mill Road to the finish line at the Snoopy's at the intersection of Whitaker Mill and Wake Forest Road. More free food there, as well as raffle prizes.
The whole thing was a lot of fun. The weather was perfect and the 5 mile course was interesting and mostly downhill. In all I had three hotdogs, so it's a good thing it was a fun run and not competitive.
Also worth noting is the fact that it only cost $5 to participate, but none of that went toward the event. Everything was donated by Snoopy's and NCRC- all the money was donated to the SPCA of Wake County. I'm told over $500 was raised by the event!
Thanks to Snoopy's and NCRC for putting on a great event. Looking forward to next year's run!
